As part of our development of the Preparing for Adulthood section of the Local Offer, we spoke to parents, carers and young people about what they would like to see, which would help them prepare for adult life. See their feedback.

Thanks for my MAXCard - but there aren't many Poole venues on the scheme. Would be nice to have more places to go that are closer to home. (Mrs H)
The FIS is working closely with MAXCard to increase venues in the Poole area. We asked all members for ideas on where they would like to use their MAXCard and subsequently provided a detailed list of suggested venues to the MAXCard team to follow up. They are actively working to increase the venues in the area so keep checking the national website for latest updates. Also, please feedback any suggestions to us which we will take forward with MAXCard.
It was difficult to find out how early year providers and schools would cater for my child’s specific needs. (Mr K)
The FIS runs an annual update programme to ensure all services are current and correct. Every early years provider and school completes a Local Offer section on their record which explains the level of support offered, including:
- a full description of how each establishment supports your child
- the eligibility criteria for accessing additional support services/therapies
- the process of how you will access additional support
- guidance on the transition process i.e. movement to additional services/therapies, or a new school
You do not need to be a lone voice there are many local forums you can join and share your views with other parents in similar situations, such as Parent Carers Together.
